Your purchase of AutoEnginuity (AE) includes a 1 Year Subscription for Software Updates. Any new versions of the AE software (base product or enhanced features you purchase) that are released within 1 year of the purchase date are free. This includes major release versions. After 1 year, upgrades to new "Major Releases" will require the purchase of a 1 year subscription renewal. The cost of this renewal depends on the package being renewed...please call or e-mail us to discuss this.

AE 5.x+ USB ScanTool Activations are now based on the hardware ID that is coded into the adapter and the version of the AE package you purchase. Once an activation code is issued for a particular adapter/enhanced interface package, that code is permanent FOR THAT HARDWARE AND MAJOR VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE. This will allow you to install the software and activate the enhanced features you've purchased on as many computers as you wish, as many times as you wish, provided you always use the same AE hardware and the same major verion of the AE software. If your computer crashes and you have to reinstall, or you buy a new computer and you have to reinstall, the activation code is the same...no more having to send in for new activation codes!

There are a few situations that will require a new activation code:

• A new major version update is released (ie. 6.x is released to replace 5.x).
• You purchase additional enhanced vehicle coverage (ie. you add GM enhanced support to a Ford package).

Note: You are NOT required to purchase a new subscription after yours expires. If the version you have works for your needs and the new features or program changes are not necessary for you, you are free to continue using the version you have already paid for.
